Team Match

For the first time in BADC history, our 2023 competition will feature a team match event in the Saturday evening session!

Team match registration is open here until Saturday 12/9 at 11:00 am. You can also use this form to vote for which social dances your Rookie-Vet couple may perform! The social dances will be announced shortly after registration closes.

Assembling your team

Each participating team will send 5 couples onto the floor, 1 for each of the following events:

  • Rookie: Standard or Smooth tango

  • Rookie: Latin jive or Rhythm swing

  • Veteran: Standard or Smooth foxtrot

  • Veteran: Latin or Rhythm chacha

  • Rookie-Vet: Social dance (to be determined by you!)

Rookies are defined as dancers currently competing at the newcomer or Bronze level. Veterans are defined as dancers currently competing at the Silver level or above. (Note: newcomer and Bronze dancers are welcome to compete in the Veteran events as well! But not the other way around.)

You are welcome to assemble teams with dancers from multiple schools or affiliations.

The team match will consist of 2 rounds, a semifinal and a final. Each couple will perform the same dance twice, except for the Rookie-Vet couple—the semifinal and final will be 2 different social dances. (You all get to decide which 2 social dances will be featured in team match!)

There are no syllabus restrictions for this event. Open rules apply—no lifts. Other than that, Rookie, Veteran, and Rookie-Vet dancers can do whatever moves their hearts desire.
