Why did you join CU Ballroom?

I joined ballroom because I wanted to meet new people through dancing, not only on campus but all over the city as well. I had never done any dance classes before, so I wanted to learn in a casual, fun environment – ballroom has definitely lived up to my expectations.

One thing you’d like to improve about ballroom through board this year?

I want to get more people engaged in social dancing, because it’s a great way to improve and get off-campus. I therefore want to organize more outings and raise awareness of the salsa track.

One thing joining and dancing ballroom taught you?

I have learned that the best way to get better at dancing is to have fun and get lost in the moment. For me, salsa is best when you don’t have to time to think about where you put your feet!

Favorite ballroom dance and favorite social dance?

I’m pretty new to ballroom so I’ve only ever done salsa dancing but I’m looking forward to trying more!

If you could have anything/anyone for a dance partner, what would you chose

Anyone with small feet.

Advice for newcomers/people interested in joining ballroom?

Just try it! Salsa is laid-back and fun so it doesn’t matter what skill level you are. It’s so socially rewarding – coming on socials, you’ll see a whole new side to the city and meet amazing people. It’s also a great way to relax after a stressful week.
